Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has been officially launched. And we are going so crazy about it. This device has all the features an average mobile user could possible ask for. However, the manufacturers have managed to keep the price just as affordable as the previous Note’s were. Let’s check out why there is so much craziness about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
Specifications of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
The Note 3 has a matte finish, which gives it a polished look. The edges are wonderfully curved. The loudspeakers are placed on the back lower side, which might be problematic once you place the phone on some surface. The non removable battery gives it a very compact feel. The dimensions of the device are 150 x 76 x 8.7 mm. The flagship weighs only 164 grams, which is another trademark of the Xiaomi phones.
The upper edge of the device has 3.5 mm jack slot, IR blaster and secondary noise cancellation mic. The lower edge has microUSB port and primary microphone. The SIM tray on the left edge and the Power and Volume Buttons on the right edge.
The Note 3 sports a 5.5 inch IPS LCD Full HD display with a high screen resolution of 1080p and pixel density of ~401 ppi. The IPS technology enables viewing at any angle absolute pleasure. A wonderful addition is Night Display, that detects sunset and adjust the phone brightness. The phone is covered by a protective layer, but with what is still unknown.
Phones these days are usually launched in two variants of a combination of internal storage and RAM. Note 3 has also followed the same trend. There is a 2 GB RAM+16 GB ROM variant and the other one is 3 GB RAM+ 32 GB ROM variant. In storage front, there is an additional option of 32 GB external expandable storage via microSD card.
Note 3 runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS with a MIUI 7 skin. It runs on 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 65o hexa core processor at 1.8 GHz. It is said that the phone won’t heat up, which would be pretty appreciable an achievement. Besides, it has Adreno 510 GPU also.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera. The dual camera has dual LED Flash and autofocus in 0.1 seconds. Both the camera’s have an aperture of f/2.0. You can play around with some filters and modes in the phone. As for the front camera, it has face detection as well as 36 smart beauty profiles. You can change the skin tone and other features with this facility.
Fingerprint sensor of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
Is the fingerprint sensor of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 a big deal? Sure it is! The fingerprint scanner is placed on the rear side of the device, just below the dual LED Flash. Let’s check out what it can do, apart from unlocking your device with your finger impression in 0.3 seconds.
Lip-lock : A fun fact about our body reveals that the lip impression is similar to our thumb impression. It was Xiaomi who gave a touch of reality to this feature by using it in their latest flagship. Thus you can use your lower lip as an input for the scanner. We experienced a live demo of this by Mr. Hugo Barra at Note 3 launch.
Selfie capture : We do click a lot of selfie these days. And I still face difficulties with adjusting my hands while clicking it. So, this is a very neat solution to our problems! Position the camera and a light tap on the fingerprint scanner will deliver you a marvelous selfie.
Selfie Capture (Phase II) : Xiaomi did not restrict the multi-functional fingerprint button for the front camera. The same feature is available for the rear camera as well.
App lock & Hidden Folder : Fingerprint scanners usually lock the entire phone as a whole, and not the apps. You need to download some third party app for that. But with Redmi Note 3, you are permitted to lock one app. Another wonderful feature is the option to hide folders with sensitive information(just in case it falls in wrong hands).
3rd Party App Login : Cleartrip, Paytm, Bookmyshow, Flipkart and HDFC can be unlocked with the fingerprint scanner.
Other sensors are the Electronic Compass, Gravity Sensor, Light sensor, Gyroscope, IR, Hall sensor and Proximity Sensor.
Note 3 is a dual SIM device supporting GSM, HSPA and LTE technology. Sadly, the SIM2 slot is not a dedicated slot as you have to share it with the external expandable storage. Other wireless connectivity features are Wi Fi 802.11, Wi Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth, FM Radio, A-GPS and microUSB.
Every smartphone owner desires battery like that of Xiaomi phones. Even at a very low price, the manufacturers somehow manage to squeeze in a battery to last a day long. The legacy has been carried on in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 as well. The phone comes with a non-removable 4,000 mAh capacity battery. The device comes with Quick Charge technology.
