Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is called the #Knockout (Knockout Smartphone, Knockout Price). The phone packs some really cool and good specs within Rs. 10,000. It might be a success in the Indian market (keeping the pricing in mind). Let’s check the other tech end specs and see if it is really a #knockout or not.
Specifications of Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus has a very high class finish on the exterior. The rear side is a replica of the iPhones with the camera on the top left corner, company logo in the center and the dual stereo speakers on the lower side. The front side is also not much of a unique design. There are 3 capacitive (does not light up on touching) keys along the lower side and the front facing camera with the proximity and ambient light sensor on either sides on the upper side. The Volume Buttons and the Power key is present on the right edge. On the top is the microUSB and 3.5 mm jack slot.
The device is pretty thin and light weighted. It’s dimension and weights is 142 x 71 x 8 mm and 142 grams. It’s made up of aluminium, still retails the light weight (probably because the back cover is only made up of aluminium).
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus sports a 5 inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and screen resolution of 441 PPI. The screen supports multitouch.
In terms of connectivity, the phone is a dual micro SIM device that supports GSM, HSPA and LTE.
2G Network : GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G Network : 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
4G Network : LTE TDD Band 38/40/41 (1 MHz Bandwidth) FDD Band 1/3/5/7/8/20
Other wireless connectivity options are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth, A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB.
Processor, Chipset and RAM
The Vibe K5 Plus runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset, which is a very good choice as this new chipset promises not to heat up like the other chipsets in this range. It has 4 cores running at 1.5 GHz and 4 cores running at 1.2 GHz. The phone has 2 GB RAM for efficient multitasking and Adreno 405 as GPU.
The phone runs of Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box which sounds very good a deal in this price. However, there is no news about Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
There is lots of storage with 16 GB internal storage and additional 32 GB external expandable storage.
Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus has the usual 13 MP – 5 MP camera duo. The rear 13 MP shooter has LED Flash. It allows auto focus, geo tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. Video recording is done at 1080p.
The phone comes with a removable battery of 2750 mAh capacity that gives a standby of 322 hours and 2G talktime of 32 hours and 3G talktime of 15.1 hours.
Pricing & Availability
Does not heat.
No Gorilla Glass
No fingerprint scanner
Conclusion : The phone is really not a good pick. There are many better options in the market as compared to this. The phone lacks a fingerprint scanner. The RAM is also low and there is no Gorilla Glass to save the device from scratches or minor falls. Also, the screen resolution is very high as compared to the battery which is surprisingly very less. If the device was priced a bit lower, then there would still be a chance of considering it as a buying option.
