Design

On the front side of Gionee Marathon M5 Lite is a front camera, sensors and earpiece on the upper side and the three distinctive capacitive touch keys(without back light) along the lower side. On the back side is the rear camera with LED Flash on the top left corner, stereo loudspeaker on the lower side and the Gionee logo somewhere midway. The lower edge comprises the microUSB and primary microphone. On the top edge is the 3.5 mm jack slot for headsets. The Power and Volume rocker buttons are on the right edge.

The dimensions of the device is 143 x 69.9 x 8.55 mm and is a fully metallic, hence the weight (183 grams).

Display

M5 Lite sports a 5 inch LCD capacitive display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixel and screen resolution of ~267 ppi. The phone sports a IPS display, which means you will be comfortably viewing the phone at any angles. The screen is protected by a Asahi Dragontrail Glass and has Gionee’s Amigo 3.1 skin.

Storage

This is a big bonus for a phone in this range. The phone comes with 32 GB of internal storage and with an additional 128 GB of external expandable storage too. The miroSD slot will be a dedicated slot, which mean you can retain the second SIM as well as the card.

As mentioned above, the device is a dual SIM device. Other wireless connectivity option are Wi Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi Fi Direct, hotspot, bluetooth, A-GPS, microUSB 2.0, FM Radio and NFC.

Gionee M5 Lite runs on Mediatek MT6735 chipset which has 4 cores running at 1.3 GHz. It has Mali T720MP2 graphics card on board.

The device was pretty impressive when it was launched. Now there are much better devices in the market with similar specs at a much lesser price. You can go for Honor Holly 2 for the same battery, Coolpad Note 3 for the same RAM, etc. The camera is of a poor quality. You can get 13MP camera device like Le 1S for a cheaper size. Plus, the device is really heavy with 183 grams.
